(WTKR) A vow renewal ceremony in Virginia Beach turned violent Saturday night after witnesses say the bride’s son and daughter, both whom are adults, were shot.
A Virginia Beach police spokesman says they got the call of the shooting at 10:25 Saturday night at the banquet hall called the “Royal Courtyard,” which is just off of Virginia Beach Boulevard and Birchwood Park Drive.
Police say a man was shot in the chest and is in critical condition at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
The woman was shot in the leg. Police say she was treated and released.
The names of the victims were not released.
Officers arrested a 35-year-old man at the scene. He is charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police have not said what led up to the shooting. Their investigation is still ongoing.
