SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Virginia man was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding after he stabbed his girlfriend in a Spotsylvania County motel room, according to Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Harvey.
Roland Thomas Smith II, 32, is being held without bond. He was arrested on May 11, 2012.
The girlfriend, who claimed she caught Smith cheating on her at the Econolodge Hotel along Jefferson Davis Hwy., suffered an injury to her abdomen and had to be treated at the hospital.
Witnesses were able to help deputies find Smith who, Harvey said, had blood on his hands and was carrying a knife.
Harvey said Spotsylvania gang investigators might look into the case given the tattoos on the suspect’s face.
The markings appear to be Latin phrases which translate to:
- “I think therefore I am”
- “Nothing is heavy to those you have wings”
There appear to be more facial tattoos that cannot be fully seen on the suspect’s mug shot.
