HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico County Police arrested Michael Anthony Schwerdtfeger, 43, of Highland Springs, and charged him with First Degree Murder. Police said Schwerdtfeger killed 60-year-old Wanda Anauo last fall.
On October 15, 2011, Anauo’s boyfriend told police he found Anauo’s body on her bed in her E. Nine Mile Road home. Police investigated it as a suspicious death.
Officers said their investigation lead them to Schwerdtfeger, who police said was friends with Anauo.
The Medical Examiners’ Office determined Anauo was strangled. Police did not release a motive in the killing.
Schwerdtfeger was taken into custody Monday without incident.
