PETERSBURG, Va. (WTVR) -  Police have made an arrest in an April 1 murder, according to Petersburg police spokeswoman Esther Hyatt. Hyatt said officers arrested 21-year-old Cortez J. Jones for first degree murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Carlos Manson, Jr.

Manson Jr. was shot around 6:50 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Farmer Street. He later died at Southside Regional Medical Center.

Hyatt said the shooting stemmed from an argument earlier in the day and that the investigation into the shooting was on-going.

The shooting occurred near a Petersburg church and the sound of gunshots disrupted the church's Sunday evening service.
