Madison County, AR – Arkansas Head Football Coach Bobby Petrino is expected to make a full recovery from a motorcycle accident he was involved in Sunday evening.
According to Arkansas State Police, Petrino was in a motorcycle accident on Highway 16 in Madison County around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
According to Bill Sadler with the Arkansas State Police, the accident occurred on the highway near the near the Crosses community, approximately 23 miles south of Fayetteville.
Arkansas State Police say Petrino was the only one involved in the accident. The extent of Petrino’s injuries is unknown at this time. Sadler did say he was transported to an Arkansas hospital after the crash.
The University of Arkansas has now released the following statement from Coach Petrino’s family:
“Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals. He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. Our family appreciates respect for our privacy during the recovery and we are grateful for the thoughts of Razorback fans at this time.”
Authorities say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Jeff Long, director of athletics and vice chancellor, said he has been in touch with the Petrinos and added that he will consult with the family to provide additional information about the crash at a later time. Bobby Petrino has been a coach with the Arkansas Razorbacks since the 2008 season.
