A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for northwest Virginia until 9 PM. At 2:30 PM, a broken line of severe thunderstorms was located from central Maryland, through far northern Virginia, through central West Virginia, moving ESE at 50 mph. This line of storms will continue to develop and move southeast into a moderately unstable environment across northwest and parts of central Virginia this afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be the primary threats, with a lower threat of tornadoes with the most intense storms. Stay With CBS, We’ll Keep You Ahead of the Storm. -Zach
