HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – An explosion was reported at the Sears Outlet and Distribution Center in Henrico Monday afternoon, according to Henrico Fire Capt. James Mellon.
Mellon said in addition to the explosion, witnesses spotted a brush fire burning outside the Tomlynn Street building.
When fire crews arrived, just after 1:15 p.m., they discovered an electrical transformer on Tomlynn Street that was arching. Mellon said that caused addition arching in the building’s roof.
He said once Dominion Virginia Power cut electricity to the building, fire crews put out the flames. He said the fire damaged a small section of the roof and a service panel. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the explosion and fire is under investigation.
