Tucker High School wins robot challenge

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A team of student engineers from Tucker High School in Henrico County, Virginia won the 2012 FIRST Robotics Competition
(FRC) Virginia Regional at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center over the weekend, according to a press release from the county.

“It was a great day for Tucker High School Robotics,” said Assistant Coach Carol
Edelman.

The  two-day robotic basketball tournament featured 59 teams from Virginia, the Carolinas, Connecticut and Washington, DC. The teams

Tucker’s team was also named winner of the Engineering Inspiration Award. According to the press release, the award celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and
appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school as well as their
community.

With the win, Tucker’s FRC team qualified to compete at the FIRST WORLD Championship in St. Louis, April 25-28.
