CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The Children’s Museum of Richmond will open a satellite location in the Winterpock Crossing Shopping Center at the corner of Hull Street and Winterpock Road in Midlothian, Virginia later this year, according to an email from the museum.
Museum President and CEO Karen Coltrane will make an official announcement about the new location at an event Monday morning.
Last Fall the museum announced plans to expand into Chesterfield after what they considered a successful expansion into Short Pump in 2010.
In an interview last Fall, Coltrane told CBS 6 once the Chesterfield location opened, she hoped the number of member families in Chesterfield would triple to around 2,000. The museum has approximately 5,000 member families across Central Virginia, Coltrane said.
Coltrane said the decision to expand into Chesterfield was made after studies found families who lived in Chesterfield near Route 288 and Robious Road would make the trip to the Children’s Museum in Short Pump, but families who lived deeper in Chesterfield would not.
