PETERSBURG, Va (WTVR) – Petersburg Police, State Police and The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Richmond Field Office Bomb Unit all responded to a call of a suspicious package possibly containing bomb-making materials found at an assisted living facility in the 30 block of W Filmore St in Petersburg.
Sgt. Molnar of Virginia State Police tells WTVR.com that VSP was called to Filmore Place Adult Care Center, formerly the Tri-City Garden Villa, to assist Petersburg Police shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday..
Ester Hyatt of Petersburg Police confirms that, after the building was evacuated, bomb units destroyed the package in the parking lot of the building shortly after 12:00 p.m..
The VSP Bomb Squad is currently investigating the contents of the package now that it has been rendered safe.
