CHICAGO (CNN) – The new homeowners who snapped up the “Home Alone” house in Winnetka, Illinois, got quite a deal.
After going on the market last year with a list price of $2.4 million, Chicago’s CBS 2 reports that the home made famous in the 1990 film “Home Alone” has sold for $1.585 million.
The real estate agency involved hasn’t released the identity of the buyer.
Whomever they are, they’ve acquired a 4,250 square foot residence with 14 rooms, including four bedrooms, 3.2 baths and a screened-in porch.
The former homeowners bought the house in 1988, and were living there when it was used to stage “Home Alone.”
Although the decor seen in the movie was picked out by the film’s crew, the exterior scenes and the scenes filmed in the kitchen, the first-floor landing and the infamous staircase Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin sleds down are of the colonial Georgian itself.
