SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office identified a man killed while walking a dog down the road Wednesday afternoon as 65-year-old Brian L. Strobel of Spotsylvania. Strobel hosted a morning radio show on WFLS in Fredericksburg from 1977 until he retired in 2007.

“All of our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Brian Strobel. We all will truly miss Brian,” WFLS posted on its Facebook page Thursday morning.

In a press release, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Captain Mike Harvey wrote a truck ran off the road in the area of Kingswood Blvd and Harris Mill Ct and struck Strobel around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday. He was pronounced dead on the scene 10 minutes later.

Harvey said the Nissan pickup truck that hit Strobel “completely left the roadway” before impact.

Stobel was walking his dog at the time, Harvey said.

People who saw the accident performed CPR on Strobel until emergency responders arrived on scene.
