CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - The State Fair of Virginia went into Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation Wednesday, effectively ending the fair and several events the company that put on the fair produced. [Click here]

Also in question is the fate of Meadow Event Park, the land where the state fair moved several years ago.

That has the Ball family of Ruther Glenn outraged.

Kathryn Ball had her wedding reception booked for next month at the Meadow Event Park. She said she reserved the reception hall eight months ago. On Wednesday, she received an email that read her event was cancelled due to the state fair's bankruptcy.

Her family already paid the hall $4,000.

“I`m upset because they`ve spent a lot of money on me, and now I don`t know if they`ll get it back,” said Kathryn.

After she received the email, Kathryn’s mother Jeannie said she went to the fairgrounds and spoke to State Fair President Curry Roberts.

“I asked him what I was supposed to do and he said `I don`t know. We`ve done all we can do. I`m sorry`,” said Jeannie.

Jeannie said Roberts told her to call his lawyer.

Jeannie said while she is concerned about the money they've spent, at this point, she is more concerned about finding a place to hold her daughter's wedding reception
