Showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, will move through the area tonight. A tornado watch will remain in effect for southwest and west-central Virginia until 10 PM, and a flood watch will remain in effect until 3 AM for northwest Virginia. Expect the showers and storms to shift east of the area around midnight, with clearing skies by sunrise Thursday. Thursday will be mostly sunny, breezy, and warm, with near-record highs in central Virginia. Another storm system will bring a good chance of rain and thunderstorms to the area late Friday into Saturday. An upper-level disturbance will move through the area late Sunday as colder air moves into the region, and could result in some wet snowflakes and light rain Sunday night.
