MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (WTVR) - A man and two young girls were found dead in Mechanicsville, Virginia home, according to information released late Saturday night by the Hanover County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said they were called to the 7900 block of Wynbrook Ln. around 3:30 Saturday afternoon for a report of a suspicious death.
Upon arrival, deputies said they discovered the bodies of a 40-year-old man and two 3-year-old girls deceased inside the home.
Investigators said their preliminary investigation indicated there are no suspects at large in this case. Investigators said they needed to evaluate evidence collected at the scene to determine the sequence of events that led up to the deaths.
The victims' names were being withheld until next-of-kin could be notified.
"This is truly a tragic incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased," Sergeant Chris Whitley wrote in a media release. "Investigators will continue to work diligently and in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in an effort to bring this case to a final conclusion."
Neighbors told CBS 6 reporter Sandra Jones the deceased family lived in the home for about six years.
They said the couple who rented the home lived there with twin girls.
Neighbors told CBS 6 when they saw deputies arrive at the home, they were breaking the home's windows.
"I seen the police cars and the ambulances coming down the street," said neighbor Warren Sneed. "They all stopped over there. The next thing I seen them bust out the windows on the side of the house.”
Witnesses said they saw a woman taken away from the house in an ambulance.
One neighbor he consoled a woman who found the bodies in the home.
He described the woman as distraught.
“He killed my children, he killed my children,” he recalled her saying.
