Louisa man killed, 3 hurt in Chesterfield County crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - One person was killed in a three-vehicle accident along Robious Road in Chesterfield Wednesday morning, according to Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. Jason Elmore.

Elmore said three other people in hurt in the accident which involved a tow truck around 11:30 a.m. [PHOTOS: Click here to see the accident]

The accident happened near the intersection of Robious Road and Knollwood Drive.

Police said 45-year-old William V. Roto was traveling west on Robious Road in the area of Robindale Road when his tow truck drifted to the left, crossed the concrete median and struck three vehicles waiting to turn left onto Robindale Road.

The tow truck then swerved back to the right, ran off the road and struck a tree, according to officials.

Roto, of the 1800 block of Kents Mill Road in Louisa, died at the scene.

The drivers of two of the vehicles were transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash, but said alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors.
