CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR)- Crews spent Sunday afternoon on the scene of a house fire in the 4200 block of Frederick Farms Drive.
The fire broke out shortly before noon in the chimney of the home, according to Lt. Jason Elmore with Chesterfield Fire and EMS.
Neighbors first recognized the flames and warned the occupants inside to evacuate the home.
It took about 20 minutes for crews to extinguish the fire. The investigation determined the the fire did indeed start in the chimney, and the most substantial damage is in that area.
No one was injured in the incident, but Elmore wants to remind all citizens to have their chimneys inspected on a yearly basis to help prevent this type of fire.
