HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WTVR) - Virginia State Police say a suspect is in custody after he led them on a chase through Richmond and into Henrico's West End Friday morning.

He has been identified by state police as Matthew G. Shea, 23, of Richmond.

According to state police, a trooper pulled Shea over on Interstate 195 Northbound at Laburnum Avenue for reckless driving, and when the trooper approached Shea's 1994 Oldsmobile, he sped off going south on the interstate- and then the chase ensued.

Police say Shea exited the highway at the Broad Street/Hamilton Exit. He reportedly struck a parked pickup truck at the intersection of Sheppard and Monument Avenue and continued down Broad Street, until Henrico Police deployed stinger spikes and punctured one of the tires on the Shea's car.

Police say Shea's car reached speeds of 100 miles per hour during the 10-minute chase. He's facing seven charges in two jurisdictions including eluding police, hit and run and reckless driving.

Shea's also facing four felonies for possessing the drugs ecstacy and marijuana with the intent to distribute.
