RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) - Richmond police said late Friday night that two people have been arrested and charged after a 3-year-old boy was shot in a home in the city's East End Friday.
Police told CBS 6's Angela Pellerano that the three-year-old was shot sometime around 3 p.m. at a home in the 1500 block of North 20th Street.
Additionally, officers said someone in the home drove the boy to VCU Medical Center. Medical staff then contacted police.
Officials said the child's wound was first considered life threatening, but that after surgery the boy was listed in critical but stable condition.
The victim's father, 21-year-old Antwoine Mealey, of the 1500 block of North 20th Street, was arrested and charged with felony child neglect resulting in injury.
The victim's uncle, 19-year-old Tyrell Mealey, of the 1500 block of North 20th Street, was arrested outside the house and was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice.
Investigators said they are looking for several persons of interest that may be able to tell them what lead up to the shooting.
In addition, police said they seized the car used to transport the child. They also searched the house and removed evidence.
