RICHMOND, Va. -- Virginia Governor Ralph Northam will hold one of his biweekly news conferences at 2 p.m. on Thursday to update his administration's latest response to the COVID-19 pandemic. CBS 6 will carry the news conference live on-air and online.
Based on what he said at Tuesday's briefing, the Governor is expected to discuss Virginia's next steps in economic recovery.
"As we continue to fight this pandemic on the health front, we are also working on our economic recovery," Northam said Tuesday.
At Tuesday's briefing, Northam announced that the state would enter phase three of the reopening process on Wednesday, July 1.
Northam said this would include the City of Richmond and Northern Virginia, despite those two areas being a week behind in the reopening process, unless he heard otherwise from local leaders.
A Richmond official told CBS 6 they were optimistic the city would enter phase three on July 1, based on local health data, but an official decision would be made later in the week.
