and last updated

RICHMOND, Va. - For many years, weight loss surgery was seen as a last resort for teens, but that is changing. Today I’m joined by Dr. David Lanning, Co-Surgeon-In-Chief at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Dr. Melanie Bean, Co-Director of the Health Lifestyle Center at the hospital who shared information on new findings in weight loss surgery for teens, their program at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, and next steps for determining whether your child is a good candidate. Learn more about the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU by visiting www.chrichmond.org or by calling 804-282-CHOR (804-282-2467). You can also find them on social media @ChildrensatVCU. This Saturday, February 29th, you’ll have the opportunity to ask your questions about the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU at the THRIVE Women’s Health and Fitness Expo presented by CBS 6. Find out the latest trends in health and nutrition and enjoy a fun-filled day at THRIVE. The expo will be held from 10 am - 4 pm at the Richmond Raceway Complex.
