RICHMOND, Va. -- The Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates has decided where lawmakers will meet on April 22 for the annual reconvene session.

Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn’s office said the session would be held on the grounds of the Capitol, “in the area roughly bounded by the base of the Capitol’s South Portico steps and the East Entrance of the Capitol.”

She added there will be a contingency location under a tent set up in case of inclement weather.

The office said it would also take additional steps to maximize the health and safety of those attending the session and follow social distancing guidelines. This includes having cloth face coverings, hand sanitizer stations, and disinfectant wipes on hand.

Additionally, members and any essential staff will be spaced beyond the recommended six feet of distance.

The Senate of Virginia said it would hold its half of the session at the Science Museum of Virginia’s Dewey Gottwald Center.
