RICHMOND, Va. -- Virginia State Parks plan to gradually reopen some facilities as the state slowly eases restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The parks will continue to comply with group size limitations of 10 people and keep at least 6 ft apart from other park guests. Anyone who is sick or has symptoms similar to COVID-19 should stay home.
Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Director Clyde E. Cristman said, “We’re honored that people are choosing Virginia State Parks for the outdoor experiences they need now... Access to green space and fresh air is important for physical and mental health. Virginia State Parks staff is working diligently to ensure safe access for everyone.”
Anyone planning to visit a park during the Spring or Summer months should expect changes to normal park operations and some facilities to remain closed. Keep in mind, state parks in Northern Virginia could be impacted differently because of delayed reopening rules.
