MANASSAS, Va. -- It was a Valentine's Day to remember for one Haymarket man.

Joseph Heaton returned to Sudley Shell in Manassas on February 14 to pick up a check for $10 million.

Heaton won the top prize in the Virginia's Extreme Millions scratcher game.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Heaton said about his luck. “My head has been spinning ever since.”

Instead of receiving his $10 million prize in payments stretching over 30 years, Heaton choose to be paid in one $6,570,302 lump sum (before taxes).

The $10 million prize is the largest prize possible in any Virginia Lottery Scratcher game, according to lottery officials.
