RICHMOND, Va. -- The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation is kicking off the summer with a new event, the Capital Quarantine Challenge.
The three-month challenge encourages participants to complete all 51.7 miles of the Virginia Capital Trail by August 31, 2020.
Participants can choose to bike, run, walk or roller-blade the entire length of the Trail all at once, or take a more gradual approach and complete the Trail in sections.
People who have already completed the Trail can still participate by submitting their results online.
“We’re hoping this new event will inspire people to stay active and healthy while continuing to practice safe social distancing,” said Cat Anthony, Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. “We are excited to be able to offer a fun way for people of all ages and abilities to connect responsibly through outdoor activity.”
Participants who complete all 51.7 miles on the Capital Trail, will receive an official certificate and Conquered the Cap Trail t-shirt.
Registration is $20 and ends August 31, but you can submit your results any time before September 15, 2020.
Proceeds from the challenge will go to the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, a non-profit organization that exists to protect, promote, and enhance the Virginia Capital Trail, and to serve as a resource, community builder, and connector to other trails throughout the Commonwealth.
