RICHMOND, Va. — A fight led to gunfire that critically wounded a man and also injured a woman at a party at a home on Richmond's Southside Friday night, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

Richmond Police were called for a report of a shooting at a home in the 200 block of East 35th Street around 11:30 p.m., according to officials with the department. That is in the Swansboro West neighborhood off Hull Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man and woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds outside a home.

Both victims were taken to an area hospital. The man's injuries were described as life-threatening. The woman's injury is not life-threatening, police said.

"Detectives are investigating this incident and have determined an altercation escalated into the shootings," a spokesperson for the department said.
