Henrico firefighter killed in Richmond hit-and-run; police seek SUV with missing mirror

RICHMOND, Va. — A Henrico County firefighter was killed Friday night after a dark-colored SUV struck his motorcycle on a Richmond interstate ramp and fled the scene, authorities confirmed Saturday.

Ashtain Noel Davis, 28, of Petersburg, was a recent graduate of Recruit Academy 86, completing fire training in July 2026. He had joined the Henrico Division of Fire in 2025 after a career in armed security and military service, officials said.

"We are grateful for Ashtain's service and his continued commitment to serve his community," Henrico Fire Chief Doug Clevert said. "We stand in solidarity with Ashtain's family and are ready to support them during this time."

Troopers said Davis was thrown from his Harley-Davidson motorcycle after the SUV hit him on the ramp from Interstate 64 west to Interstate 95 south between 11:20 and 11:27 p.m. Friday. He was wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Investigators believe the SUV may have also struck a Toyota Camry before leaving the scene.

Based on witness accounts and debris recovered at the scene, troopers believe the vehicle is a dark blue or black 2014-2019 Jeep Cherokee or Compass. The SUV is missing a mirror and may have minor front- and rear-end damage, according to investigators.
