RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating an attempted armed carjacking that happened in the East End Tuesday night.

The incident happened at a convenience store at the corner of Crestview and Government roads.

"I ran from behind the store and he went right behind me," said Tyrone Bey, who said the suspect then pulled out a gun, and shouted, "Give me your keys!”

Bey says he told the suspect no before he was demanded to give up his car keys again. That's when Bey threw his keys towards the front of the store.

"He said get the keys and bring them back,” Bey said. “I headed to the store and yelled he's got a gun, he's got a gun and there were a lot of people out here."

No one was injured during the incident and the suspect was last seen running away towards Crestview Road.

The incident is still under investigation.
