RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have identified the two men who were shot and killed in the parking lot of a Richmond apartment building last month.

Around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, police responded to a call for random gunfire and a person down in the 1500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

Officers arrived on scene and found two men down and unresponsive in a parking lot of an apartment building. They had each suffered an apparent gunshot wound and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims, Letron A. Franklin, 26, of Henrico and James M. Winston, 66, of the 1500 block of Columbia Street in Richmond were identified last week.

Detectives believe there were several people present at the time of the shootings off the northbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Highway in front of the small apartment building. Detectives urge anyone with information to provide it to investigators, including motorists who may have been driving in the area in the early morning hours who may have seen something that could have been related to these shootings.
