PETERSBURG, Va. -- Terri T. Smith says she always has music playing in her Petersburg High School classroom, usually of the R&B variety.

With that in mind, it isn’t too surprising that Smith, a government teacher, decided to send her students an encouraging message ahead of their exams via a remix to a popular rap song.

In a video posted on her Facebook, Smith displays her lyrical prowess over the beat to Yung M.A’s 2016 hit “OOUUU.”

Smith reminded her seniors that they are more than capable of acing their Advanced Placement Government exams which took place Monday afternoon.

“I just wanted to do something different for them,” Smith said. “I don’t really listen to today’s hip-hop, strictly old school so I figured I would shock them.”

Smith says once she wrote the song she enlisted the help of two of her college-aged children, Jada and Marcel, to help her find the perfect, more modern, beat to rap over.

The video even features an intro cameo from her daughter.
