CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police have arrested a suspect after officers said a fight over a parking spot led to a shooting that left a man wounded in Chester Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 12100 block of Perdue Springs Loop near Chester and Route 1 for a report of shooting just before 3:15 p.m.
When police arrived, officers found a man who was shot.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening injuries, official said.
"The initial investigation indicates that the shooting was the result of a fight between a group of individuals over a parking spot," officers said.
Police said Sunday that officers arrested Rakim Jackson, of the 3800 block of Creek Way in Chesterfield, and changed him with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm at an occupied building, and use of a firearm in a commission of a felony.
Jackson is being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail, police said.
Police said their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
