RICHMOND, Va. --
The Richmond Fire Department is working to determine the cause of a late night fire on East Broad Street at the Jefferson Loan Building.
RFD reported on their twitter: "Engine 6 arrived on scene 10 E. Broad St. with heavy smoke coming from the front of the building (Jefferson Loan). They immediately declared a working fire and began an interior attack. Nothing further to report at this time"
And later reported "Update: The fire has been marked under control. No injuries or fatalities to report at this time. Crews still remain on scene to conduct additional operations."
According to police no one was injured however residents in nearby apartments were asked to evacuate due to heavy smoke damage.
This is an ongoing story, and the cause of this fire is still under investigation.
