RICHMOND, Va. -- A Pittsburgh man who drove to Chesterfield County to have sex with a 10-year-old girl and the child's mother pleaded guilty to sex crimes, according to the United States Attorney's Office.

Brian Kosanovich, 58, faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in March 2021.

Kosanovich was arrested in February outside the Chili's restaurant at Chattanooga Plaza in Midlothian.

He had driven to Virginia from Pittsburgh after communicating for months online with an undercover FBI employee, according to investigators.

"The undercover officer’s profile indicated that she was a single mother with a 10-year-old daughter. After establishing contact on Alt.com, Kosanovich and the undercover officer began communicating via the Kik messaging application," a spokesperson for the United States Attorney's Office wrote in an email. "Kosanovich and the undercover officer engaged in extensive conversations of a sexually-explicit nature for several months, much of which focused on Kosanovich having sex with the 10-year-old as well as the mother."

Kosanovich sent nude “selfies” to the undercover agent, according to investigators.

Kosanovich worked for the Pittsburgh fire department at the time of his arrest.
