Second man killed after subsequent shooting in Richmond neighborhood

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating second a fatal shooting at a Richmond apartment complex Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of Admiral Gravely Boulevard at 6 p.m. for "several reports of a shooting."

"Once on scene, they found an adult male with gunshot wounds," police said. "He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died."

Earlier Sunday officers were called to the 1200 block of Admiral Gravely Boulevard in the East End for a report of a shooting just after 12:30 p.m.

"Once on scene, they found an adult male with gunshot wounds," police said. "He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died."

Officials said the Medical Examiner will determine the exact causes and manners of death in both cases.

"The Major Crimes division’s detectives are investigating whether this incident is connected to the earlier shooting in the same area," a police department spokesperson said via an 8 p.m. email. "First Precinct leadership and Command Staff through the Chief of Police responded to the scene."

No suspect information nor additional details about either case were available at last check.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.
