Man arrested in Florida in connection to Richmond murder

RICHMOND, Va. -- A man has been arrested in Florida in connection to a murder in Richmond earlier this month.

On October 6, officers were called to an apartment in the 3600 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for the report of a person down at approximately 8:22 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located Estelle D. Pugh, described as a woman in her 60s, suffering from trauma. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Louis Ellis, Jr. surrendered to authorities in Florida after Richmond detectives, investigating the homicide, originally charged him with felony credit card fraud in connection with the murder.

Ellis has now been charged with first degree murder and felony assault in Pugh's death.
