Family displaced after heavy fire damages Henrico home

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Henrico Fire Marshals are investigating a house fire in Henrico County Thursday afternoon.

Henrico Fire units responded to a kitchen fire inside a home in the 3400 block of Glenwood Ridge Road, near Creighton Road, at 12:36 p.m.

Henrico Fire arrived to find heavy fire venting from several windows and doors on the front and rear of the 2-story home. Officials say the fire rapidly extended into the attic and across the entire length of the house.

All occupants were outside and uninjured when fire crews arrived on scene.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

Henrico Fire Marshals are still trying to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
