POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. -- State police have released the name of the 28-year-old man killed along Route 60 in Powhatan County Wednesday night.

Troopers were called to the wreck in the 1400 block of Anderson Highway just before 8:30 p.m.

Officials said a man driving a Nissan Altima was headed west on Route 60 when he ran off the road and struck a guardrail.

"The driver, Evan M. Howard Berry, of Fishersville, Virginia, exited the vehicle and walked onto the left travel lane where he was struck by a Ford Edge,"officials with state police said.

Berry died of his injuries at the scene, according to troopers.

The driver of the Edge, a 44-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was not hurt, troopers said.

Officials said the investigation into the crash, which closed all westbound lanes of Route 60 near Paige Road around 8:45 p.m., is ongoing.

All lanes had reopened by around 11:50 p.m.
