Chesterfield mom charged with a crime after baby daughter's death

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield mother was charged with three counts of felony child neglect after her infant daughter's death, according to Chesterfield Police.

Miesha O. Scott, 22, was arrested Friday, three days after her daughter died.

"The 1-month-old female was unresponsive when she arrived at an area hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 27," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson wrote in an email about the incident. "The child was pronounced dead at the hospital."

Police have not yet released any additional details about the circumstances surrounding the infant's death.

"Police continue their investigation into this incident and urge anyone with information to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660," the spokesperson's email continued.
