18-year-old charged with murder in death of woman found on Richmond bike path

RICHMOND, Va. -- An 18-year-old has been charged with murder of a Richmond woman found dead on a city bike path.

Jamar Paxton Jr., 18, of Mechanicsville is charged with First-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony as well as Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Officers were called to the 4300 block of Williamsburg Road, near Gillies Creek Park, on Wednesday, May 13 for a report of a person down on a bicycle path at approximately 10:13 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Dominique Danzy shot to death on the bike path. She had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crime Insider sources say that Paxton was Danzy's boyfriend.
