HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Officers arrested a 27-year-old man on Tuesday for allegedly robbing the same convenience store twice within a year.
Henrico Police said they were called to a store in the 800 block of E. Parham Road on the evening of Jan. 30 of last year for a reported robbery.
An employee of the convenience store told police a man walked up to the register to make a purchase, and when the employee turned around, the man showed a gun and made a threatening statement.
The man took an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot, according to police.
A little over a year later, police were called to the same store around 5:20 a.m. for another reported robbery.
This time, police said a man walked into the store and asked for a cigar.
The same store employee recognized the man from last year’s robbery, according to police.
After the man brandished a gun and asked for money, police said there was a physical altercation that left the store employee knocked to the ground.
The man fled the store after he took cash from the register, police said.
Police took Gerardo Torres into custody as the suspect, and he’s currently being held without bond at the Henrico County Jail.
Torres was charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, robbery and an outstanding failure to appear warrant.
