HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Some Rocketts Landing residents have taken a cue from Italians quarantined in their apartment buildings during the spread of COVID-19 virus in that country by breaking into song.

Rocketts Landing residents Melissa and Tom Laughon saw videos of the Italian citizens singing and playing music and decided to post the following message on their community’s Facebook page:

Riverwalk cocktail party starting now … because we’re already tired of social distancing … and inspired by the Italians … let’s all make our favorite drink and meet outside on *our own* balconies … enjoy the weather, talk, drink, sing, be obnoxious and be together … what do you say?

In less than an hour, Melissa Laughon reported, “we had a DJ, guitar, flugelhorn, singers and at least 27 people come out on their balconies to be neighborly!

“I would just like to say … I LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS!!!”

Laughon says the she and her husband have encouraged people to join in even if they only have a driveway or front porch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pw8kPaL0Nc
