RICHMOND, Va. — What was once Tropical Storm Lisa has dissipated in the eastern Atlantic and is no longer a tropical system. Karl passed by Bermuda on Saturday will continue tracking into the northern Atlantic.
A new tropical wave emerged off the west coast of Africa a few days ago and is tracking westward. Computer models indicate that the environment is favorable for this to become our next tropical storm. If it does become a named storm, it will be called Matthew.
There is not a lot of data to feed into the computer models just yet, but the data thus far are producing model forecast tracks to the west towards the Caribbean.
It is still way too early to lock into forecast path or the amount of strengthening. However, it does look like we have at least the potential for our next storm during the coming week.
