PETERSBURG, Va. – Petersburg police have launched a death investigation after finding a body along a patch of woods just southeast of South Guilfield Street.

Petersburg Police Chief William Rohde says the body is badly decomposed and they’re unable to identify the person at this time.

He went on to say they’re not ruling out that it could be Raymond Carl Parker, who has been missing since July 25.

Parker went missing after walking away from his home in the 800 block of Commerce Street. The found that was found Friday was discovered less than a mile away from Parkers home.
