Police: Trucker hauling 131 pounds of marijuana arrested in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chesterfield Police arrested a Florida man accused of hauling 131 pounds of marijuana in his tractor trailer.

Collin M. Ashley, 55, of Coconut Creek, Fla., was arrested after a Sunday traffic stop.

Police called the arrest of the "suspected drug trafficker" the result a "comprehensive investigation into a large marijuana distribution ring."

Ashley was charged with distribution of more than five pounds of marijuana; two counts of transporting controlled substances into the Commonwealth; possession of a controlled substance; and manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing, or possessing with intent to manufacture, sell, give, or distribute a controlled substance.

"During a traffic stop on that date, Ashley was found to be in possession of 131 pounds of marijuana, which was located in his 1996 Kenworth tractor trailer," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said.
