Henrico man charged after obtaining $5,000 under false pretenses

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A Henrico man has been charged with larceny by false pretenses and two additional charges after police say he took money from his bank account and reporting it as stolen.

In February of 2016, Antwoine Dontae Brooks, 45, told police that someone made $9,300.00 worth of withdrawals from his account in. He said the incidents occurred between June 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015.

At the time of the report, Brooks had been reimbursed $5,000.00 by his financial institution.

After Brooks provided a list of the transactions, with the help of surveillance video, officers discovered Brooks was actually making the withdrawals.

Brooks has been charged with two counts of larceny by false pretenses and two counts of filing a false police report.
