HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — You may remember, Dale Earnhardt Jr. started an internet craze earlier in April after revealing his favorite sandwich, bananas and mayo, now that sandwich will be on sale this weekend at Richmond International Raceway for a good cause.

The now called “Banana Blessings” sandwich will be sold for $2.00 with $1.00 of each sale donated to The Dale Jr. Foundation for Blessings in a Backpack, to help the fight against childhood hunger.

Blessings in a Backpack, is a non-profit that packs food for school children who may go without food over the weekends.

After the huge public reaction to the sandwich, Dale Jr., started a two-week fundraising drive to help fight childhood hunger.

“When we heard about Dale Jr.’s fundraising drive, we knew we needed to step up and help stop childhood hunger,” said Dennis Bickmeier, President of Richmond International Raceway. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer fans the opportunity to help this worthy cause.

The bananas and mayo sandwich will be available at select concession stands on April 22-24. RIR is asking NASCAR fans to use the hash tag #DaleJrSandwich to document the occasion on social media.

Both Dale Jr. and Hellmann’s have agreed to match donations from the sales at RIR up to $50,000 each.
