POWHATAN, Va. — A Powhatan teen was killed in a single-vehicle fatal crash on Tuesday, April 12 in Albemarle County, according to Albemarle County Police.

The driver has been identified as 16-year-old Andrew Jared McKee.

McKee was driving a 2001 Honda Odyssey mini-van westbound in the 3200 block of Richmond Road, when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

McKee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating the crash, but said it appears speed and driver inexperience were factors in the crash.
