February almanac shows a warming trend

Richmond, Va. — February is a month has produced some bitter cold and heavy snow, but it is also a month where our normal temperatures increase.  The normal high goes from 49° to 55° (or 54° in a non-leap year) and the lows increase from 29° to 33°.

It has been as warm as 83° in 1932 and 1930, and as cold as -10° in 1936.  The average month usually produces around three to five inches of snow, depending on which data period you look at.  Nor’easters tend to skew the averages.
