Richmond, Va. -- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day both set record highs and lows this year. This is the first time in history that we had record temperatures for both days. We also achieved a new milestone: the low temperature of 65° on Thursday was the warmest low temperature ever recorded on any December day in any year. Weather records for Richmond go back as far as 1887.
Richmond's previous warmest Christmas Day occurred in 1955. The typical high temperature for December 25 drops from 49° to 48°.
