Danny is now a category three hurricane

At 2 pm Friday, a National Weather Service hurricane hunter aircraft investigated Hurricane Danny and measured the maximum sustained winds at 115 mph, making Danny a category three hurricane.

Danny will move into an area of dry air and some wind shear, and this will weaken the storm over the next few days.

The forecast track continues to bring the center through the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  It should weaken enough to be downgraded to a tropical storm.

Computer models continue to show the potential for a northwestward shift towards the Bahamas and Florida next week.  A lot can change between now and then, but that is the basic trend as of now.

More details can be found in the CBS 6 Hurricane Tracker and in the CBS 6 Weather Authority App.
